Starr Ave Burger in Whitby

Great burgers. Been a customer for over 30 years

Was there last night. Paid for onion rings and when we received our order we were told they were out of onion rings. Really?? One of your signature sides. Also told no forks by a snooty young girl with dark hair. Again....really?? Been regulars there for over 20 years....not sure if we will be back. No sign of the owner.

Placed my walk up order at the counter, was told 7-8 minutes wait time. Ten minutes later, no order and a huge phone order (10 plus burgers) is now ahead of me!! Owner offered to "top me out now" when no patties were ready! Asked for and received my money back. Very disappointed with customer service, no apology, no offer of deal on next visit, no incentive to give the place another chance. Terrible experience. Owner response is pure fiction, I am a man and received no gift certificate or apology.

Starr Burger was a complete surprise to us when we moved here 5 years ago, and we frequented often until last summer. Today, we went in to splurge and for some reason it tastes like everything has changed, and not for the better. The fries are still great (if a little too salty) and I love the fresh-cooked premise and atmosphere, but they must have changed their meat or something to make it so much different. We barely ate anything other than the fries.Definitely worth a try if you're new to the area or visiting, but we definitely won't be returning too often.

Sadly they have changed their hours. Sunday closing at 8pm is fine but please lock the door so you don't have to be rude to potential customers when they enter an open door in hopes of ordering food. An open door generally means you are open for business. Anyway c'est aLa vie. Sorry to be of trouble to you, just wanted to support a local business.

The food is ok but the actions of the owner I seen recently, has made me decide to never return. While at National grocers last week, he pushed his cart, haphazardly towards the cart corral, could have hit any vehicle on it's way there. Then got into his red corvette, vanity plates let me know it was him, and sped off in a busy parking lot. If you don't have the decency to return your cart properly, or care about the safety of others in a parking lot, I have money to share locally with others who deserve it.

Talk about amazing food and service. We showed up at 8:56 and they were closing at 9. The staff made us FRESH food made to order. Absolutely loved, we took our food and had a tiny picnic outside on their benches with the kids. Great summer evening!

Once the ban was lifted to allow small gatherings, my son decided to keep his wedding date of June 20, 2020. We had 2 days to put together a relaxing backyard venue that included both the bride and grooms children. Well our option was to BBQ on such short notice, and who was going to BBQ? We called on Star Burger to help us out, we ordered burgers, hotdogs, fries, onion rings, and toppings on the side. Can't thank Dan and Steve enuf, your staff included, you guys went above and beyond. We really appreciate your help in making this day so much easier for me because I would have been stuck doing the cooking.SincerelyJanet

Delicious food. Make sure you upgrade to the “Starr patty- 8oz patty they make in house as opposed to a pre-made 4oz. Definitely worth the extra money. And the staff is wonderful!

Whatever you order will be delicious!! You can't go wrong with a single item there!

The fries are great, the burger is good (I got the Starr burger). The restaurant looks the same as it did years ago when I went as a kid. What’s great about Starr Burger is the value. You can spend nearly as much here as a fast food place but the quality and portions are far better.

After a stressful day at work, stopped in to pickup a burger for dinner. It was delicious and the fries were crispy and perfect! Thank you Starr Burger!

I only had ice cream here and it was great because it's Kawartha. I think a sign outside saying you serve ice cream would bring in a lot of business because there are almost no places close to downtown Whitby with it! Nice shaded patio to sit at was great

Haven't been in years (probably close to 15 or so) decided to give it a shot and loved it. Big difference with the decor, preferred the old style that it was before. Seems a little dark the way it is now but still the food is tasty. Some were asking for the menu so I sneaked at snap of it as well.

came from burlington friend suggested this joint...got the peameal star burger for lunch...did not need to eat dinner that night....fantastic...awesome staff...no frills decor...will go back when I swing through the area everytime

Starr burger is one of my favorite burger joints. Great retro style diner atmosphere. Reliably delicious. Ive had most items on their menu and it's all delicious. Sometimes the food takes a while ..but it's well worth the wait. The milk shakes are to die for. Even their salads can be customized.

This was the best burger place in town...key world was.The owners dont work anymore. They use to be there every day making sure the food was quality.Now they have hired a bunch of young kids and they just dont seem to care. And with no owner around to see it....nothing gets fix.It's a shame. This was the best place around hands down. But now it is awfully.

I love this burger joint. It is retro but yet they updated the inside very nicely. The burgers are delicious and the fries and onion rings are great. Friendly service and great burgers. What more can you ask for. Also they do take debit which is nice for a retro burger place.

Best burger joint around. I recommend this place to anyone around the area looking for a great burger. I literally crave their burgers every week basically. Prices are great as well.

A while back noticed the one of the counter help cutting a slice of tomato that wasn't cut through with her ungloved long fingernail. After seeing this I didn't go back for a while. So I thought I'd give them another try. In the last four visits they have messed my order up three times. I will not go back. There are cleaner and more organized fast food restaurants that get it right the first time.

Just not impressed by their food others rave about. Their burgers have a strong spice that I dont care for. Loved poutine though

This place is great! Friendly, fast, awesome. The food is delicious here as well, which is nice. The portions are big, so you will not leave hungry! There is plenty of room to sit down and enjoy your meal and you won't feel rushed to leave.

I would give zero if I could. I lived in Whitby years ago and ate at this place at least once a week. Came for a return visit and wow....what a disaster. New owners or what but it is not the Starr burger I remember. Garbage.

If you want a good burger this is the place, but get the Star Burger, it's goop

It was my families first visit to Starr Burger. We were told it was a great place. However, this will be our last. Service, food and cleanliness was all very disappointing. Found the service very poor, unfriendly. Made us feel we were putting them out by placing our order. Tables and floors were dirty. Once we got our burgers it was burnt. Our fries looked like it was re-fried. Very disappointed, my daughter was looking forward to having an ice cream after her meal, but we left and went elsewhere for that. We were so surprised by how bad it was we took pictures of our meals. I could of just gone to Harvey's and gotten the same meal for less and much better service . Get new staff or retrain the ones you have.

Food never disappoints. Well worth the wait, when there is a wait. Prices are about average in my opinion for a burger joint. Easily beats any fast food chain for only a few dollars more.

Food is decent. Used to be cheaper tbh. Go for the philly cheesesteak if you want to eat a really good meal.

Bring some wipes. Starr burger is a 2 handed assignment. Bun bit disappointing, but great burger makes up for bun. Fries nothing special. Enjoyed the deep fried onion rings. Solid 4.

Decent burger place. Fries are excellent. Unless you order the signature burger you don’t get the nice big home made patty. If you’re doing the Whitby tour of burger joints it’s worth a try but you’ll find better.

i have visited here several times and each time i was satisfied with the experience i had. The place was simple and amazing. after visiting here i remember our childhood time. Their menu is nice which include burger, milkshakes etc. The price was also reasonable.

Best burger in whitby hands down

Have lived in Whitby for 25yrs and have been here countless times. The staff and owners are friendly and the food is incredible. Best onion rings I have ever had, and the steak on a Kaiser is delicious.

Used to come here when I was a kid. Glad to learn today that it is still among the best burger shops!

Pretty solid burger spot (and I consider myself a bit of a connoisseur on the subject). Nothing fancy or gourmet but a decent patty in the Starr Burger (don't get the smaller burger, it is a frozen patty) with good fries. Standard toppings available a la Harvey's style. Can be several minutes wait sometimes if it gets busy. Wish they'd fix the video game machine to keep the kids busy while you're waiting!

This restaurant is absolutely one of the most pleasant place in the region. Anytime I visit this place I am awfully glad. They always keep their very high level service and the highest level of cooking they give. You always win with this restaurant. Highly recommended.

We have been going here for many years and can always expect very good food. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Whitby. We go out of our way to come here. The restaurant is clean but should be renovated to bring it up to date to make it better and more comfortable for customers. Kudos to the kitchen staff but some of the counter staff are lacking intelligence recently.

Guys it's time renovate or a paint job. sometimes there's a few lights out in the seating area and truly they can do beťter. The Old sign out front hasn't had anything up in years I just don't understand that . Food is good but my last 2 orders of onion rings were crispy and hard. Again they can beťter. I like the place but would like to see them take sone care to the restaurant.

This place is great. Go here every Friday, and it's always amazing. The burgers are the perfect combo of salt and fat, each brought right up to the bliss point and not an inch further. The fries are salty goodness. Only advice I'd give is to get their before 5 if you go on a Friday, because it gets real busy real fast. Great burger joint, maybe the best in the whole town imo

Small family style business. Little bit of a wait compared to your production style fast food. Restaurant is a little worn down but food was good.

I've eaten here twice and each time the food is incredible! The service is awesome, and they are super friendly. The burger patties are big and you really get your money's worth. The second time I went there it was very busy but they still got my order out on time and it tasted amazing. Starr burger is clearly under great management and they do a great job everytime. Good chicken fingers and milk shakes

burgers are tender and meaty with that distinctly sapid charred flavor you'd expect from a small local joint. definitely the place to go in whitby if you're craving a reasonably cheap homestyle burger.

By far, the best burger joint in Whitby! Friendly and speedy service. Decent sized parking lot. Clean bathrooms. Lots of tables. The food is the star here, pardon the pun. The burgers are delicious and huge! Always freshly made and served hot. The fries are freshly cut and served with the skin not removed. Everything was amazing! Will return for sure!
